ParticipantBeen working on my general cardio endurance so I can handle so many large sets, and I’ve got dit da jow and acupuncture needles on standby so I don’t wear myself out. Gonna spend the lead up doing a few sets a day to warm up for the big event.

KeymasterSounds good!
One thing that helps eat up the numbers, is not thinking of 15 or 20 sets of 1,000, but run them in blocks of 5 sets of 1,000 each time, that way you’ve only to address the training 3 or 4 times each day.
Yesterday I’d done a 5 set (5,000) before 9.00am, this way you could be done before early afternoon!

ParticipantMy preparation has drawn heavily from the “luk sau jik choy” part of wing chun. if I have a spare moment between housework or uni I do a quick set of punches just as something to do with my hands.

ParticipantOn my 2nd day took care of 20k punches earlier today. Mixed up and down with The Lin Wan Kuen method 2x (1 round of 2k punches as Sifu noted). It felt pretty good. Not as scary as I though at the beginning. Before that I was doing 3x 1k punches separated by Siu Lim Tao – then Chum Kiu and then Muk Yan Jong Fat – and for the last few weeks I’ve switched to 5k punches per training.
When started the challenge I’ve noticed few things.
1. While practicing wooden dummy form – my hands know better what to do:). I mean the feeling is so much different and I know it’s not about the speed but there is a feeling of the buildup of energy and speed after 20k of punches.
2. Originally was planning to break up punches in small series and accomplish them trough the whole day – for me it’s working way better if I take care of them in a series earlier in the morning (if I don’t have any work meetings) and then recover and practice pure forms later in the evening.Again thanks Sifu for this challenge. It brought Wing Chun way closer to my daily practice.

KeymasterWell, yesterday I hit the 100,000 mark.
I wanted to share this with you all but was locked out.
I invented the idea, had the site built, decided some starter topics for the forum, and then it kicks me out!
Is the the start ‘Cyberdyne systems’ and their plan to develop Skynet?
Better keep punching so I’m ready for the cyborgs when they attack (maybe I should also lay off the strong coffee for a while?).
Keep going every one!!!

KeymasterOh, I’m also finding that rapid punches to a 4/5 minute power tune, gives you a steady 2,000 punches with little effort, so pump up the volume and keep the high speed throughout.

ParticipantWhat kind of schedule are you using to do this?
So far I’ve found that 1,000 punches at the top of every hour works best for me. My first 100,000 won’t come till tomorrow night though!
